Revisiting Viewpoints
Attribution
Imagine reading the first few chapters of Genesis and not knowing who was speaking. You could easily mix up the words spoken by one person and attribute them to another. Questions like "Where are you?" and "Who told you you were naked?" could take on entirely different meanings if you didn't know that it was God speaking, or "You will surely not die" and "I heard your voice in the garden" if you didn't know that Satan said the former and Adam said the latter. God could have said "I heard you in the Garden" and Eve could have said, "You will surely not die" while offering Adam the fruit. We are fortunate that the surface text of the Bible spells this out, because without it Genesis 1-3 could be very confusing indeed.
Attribution is lacking in the Bible codes that have been found to date. We have yet to find a single code that says who is speaking. We can only surmise the point of view from examining the text of the code. If a code says, He offended. The resurrection of Jesus. He is risen indeed, we surmise it is from a Christian point of view, because it is talking about Jesus and His resurrection. If that sentence was in the surface text, it could be spoken by any one of a variety of people talking about the resurrection, but because it is in the Bible code, we can only come to a conclusion based on the text.
Viewpoints
In a two-part article published in 2004, we posed the question, "Do longer codes express viewpoints?" In that series, we presented codes that we believe express various viewpoints (listed here in alphabetical order):
- American
- Catholic
- Christian
- Jewish
- Terrorist
In the five years since then, we have continued to see codes with different points of view arise. Though there are others, in this article we will add:
- Buddhist
- Democratic
- Islamic
- Republican
Organizing codes into hard and fast declarations of viewpoint is very difficult. However, many of these codes are quite compelling in their expression of these various points of view. The codes presented in this article are just a sampling of the vast number of codes BCD has found to date.
Perhaps it seems like a given that one would expect to find codes in the Hebrew text of the Tanakh (Old Testament) from a Jewish point of view, but even skeptics might sit up and take notice of codes with sentences like Know who the Chosen People are, or God will be angry, and The high official will answer the anti-Semite.
If it's logical to find Jewish codes, it would seem to be illogical that there would be codes from other viewpoints, or even other religions, but that has not been our experience. Just as various points of view are presented in the surface text, such as Satan being quoted in Genesis, we have found that codes can express a variety of viewpoints.
Over the years, BCD has found several remarkable collections of Jesus codes in Genesis/Exodus, Psalm 22, and Isaiah 53. With phrases like Jesus is the way, the Son of Man is alive, let Him long live!, and Father, the ascension of Jesus is heavenly, BCD has reported on a vast array of codes that are remarkably direct in expressing a Christian POV.
In Catholicism, prayer to Mary, the mother of Jesus, is called a Hail Mary. This prayer is a request for Mary's intecession on the behalf of the petitioner. It is largely taken from Luke 1:28, 42 (Wikipedia). The codes we have selected that may represent a Catholic viewpoint are about Mary. Half of these codes were found as a result of conducting research in Isaiah 53, a portion of Scripture that describes "The Suffering Servant." Christians view this passage as descriptive of the life of Jesus. So codes like, And thirst for all of him is the faith of Mary the mother, and The I AM is Jesus. The mother is sad could be from a Catholic point of view.
But, what about codes having to do with a religion very much removed from the Jewish heritage of the Bible. What about Buddhism? BCD has been researching codes on Buddhism over the last two years, and has found an astonishing number of codes that present a Buddhist viewpoint. Here is a sampling of Buddhist codes:
- Buddha is proper and sealed. Indeed a candle. (Candles are used during meditation)
- Descend Prince Buddha, and sit down with him. (Siddhartha Gautama Buddha was born a prince)
- Siddhartha has declined Jesus' hand, and in them they identified a crisis. (See Siddhartha article)
- To the poor man within me this is the fantasy of a Buddhist, where your glance is focused. (Glance is focused: referring to meditation)
(Visit our Buddha Codes links page to read all the Buddhism articles.)
Muhammad is my father's reward and It is time that my Allah will strike me in them are examples of codes from an Islamic viewpoint, while Heal New York, the monument of the island (i.e, the Statue of Liberty) and Where is the dream of the financial market? we've put in the American category. An example of a Terrorist code would be Anthrax turns their blood thin.
Lastly, we present tables on Republican and Democratic viewpoints. Many of the codes are from the 2008 election and discuss George Bush, John McCain, Sarah Palin, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden.
It would be difficult to review these tables and not come to the conclusion that many very coherent Bible codes accurately represent each of the many well-known viewpoints cited below. This kind of compilation is the basis for BCD's position that most Bible codes represent readily identifiable points of view.

The Bible Code Digest is published by a group of scientists and writers dedicated to a search for the truth. Our goal is provide accurate, unbiased reporting of news about cutting edge Bible code research conducted by our own group as well as by other credible researchers. We endeavor to report on the significant findings of Jewish, Christian and secular researchers, regardless of their views regarding the potential validity of some Bible codes. We present a variety of viewpoints on Bible codes and often accompanying spiritual matters in these web pages, but we don't necessarily agree with all of them. Our view is that God created codes in the Bible because He loves us and wants to show us another facet of His omnipotence and omniscience.
